Mauricio Espinosa | Partner & Co-Founder
Mauricio is Co-Founder and Partner in the Investment Banking Division of Kanan Financial Partners.
He has more than 7 years of experience in financial advisory, both for private companies and governments, across different industries and sectors.
Throughout his professional career, Mauricio has been involved in capital raising processes, advice on mergers and acquisitions, sell-side and buy-side and valuation of companies, within the infrastructure, oil and gas, energy, food and beverage sectors and companies in the financial sector. He is in charge of structuring transactions to increase the probability of success.
Mauricio has participated in projects across different geographical regions, such as Latin America, Middle East, North Africa, Europe and APAC, highlighting complex transactions within governmental entities and public companies.
Throughout his professional career, Mauricio has performed quantitative and qualitative analysis in more than 50 companies, through the study and interpretation of their financial statements and macroeconomic fundamentals, understanding in-depth operations, in order to issue recommendations to maximize the potential and profitability of analyzed firms.
Moreover, he has extensive experience in buy-side due diligence, performing several red flag reports with acquisition purposes, through different industries, sectors, and even accounting systems, achieving substantial savings for his clients in mergers and acquisitions transactions.
Prior to founding Kanan, he worked at Duff & Phelps (now Kroll), where he started as an analyst, later being promoted to Senior Associate within the corporate finance team focused on energy, infrastructure and natural resources. Before joining Duff & Phelps, Mauricio worked in a private equity fund financed by BBVA, where he oversaw the analysis and creation of financial models for the valuation of companies in the financial, basic consumer and industrial sectors.
Mauricio holds a degree in Financial Management from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores in Mexico City and is a CFA Level II Candidate.
